What Is The Happiness Path, Anyway?
If you’ve heard me talking about The Happiness Path lately and wondered, “Okay… but what actually IS it?”
Fair question.
The Happiness Path supports teen girls to feel more confident, connected and resilient.
By exploring something that can be surprisingly easy to overlook during the teen years:
Who am I? Who am I becoming? And how do I want to show up in the world?
The Happiness Path is a 7-week group program,
But it’s not seven weeks of sitting in a circle being asked to talk about your feelings.
What does The Happiness Path focus on?
Through conversation, creativity, connection, reflection and practical strategies, girls get to explore five important areas:
- Health & Wellness
- Awareness
- Friendships & Relationships
- Moving Through Life’s Hard Moments Confidence & Potential
And there’s something really important about doing this with other girls.
Because one of the things I’ve noticed again and again in my work with teen girls (and parents) as a psychologist, is how often they believe they are the only ones.
The only one who doubts herself.
…who struggles with friendship stuff.
…who feels confident one day and completely unsure the next.
***Disclaimer*** She isn’t .
A space that's even better than what we imagined
The Happiness Path creates a space where girls can connect, have fun, try new things, reflect, and discover that they have more strengths and choices than they may realize.
And ultimately, what they take with them, is even better than we imagined:
“I know myself a little better.”
“I know what helps me.”
“I know I can handle hard things.”
“I know I’m not alone.”
“I like the person I’m becoming.”
Because we can’t promise our daughters that life will always be easy.
But we can help them build the confidence, self-awareness, relationships and tools to navigate whatever comes next.
That’s The Happiness Path.
A Little Gift for Her: The Courage Card
What does courage look like to you?
I’ve created a little Courage Card activity inspired by some of the experiential activities we use in The Happiness Path.
It takes just a few minutes and invites your daughter to imagine what courage looks, feels and sounds like for her.
She might discover that courage isn’t about being fearless at all.
It’s about moving forward even when fear or doubt comes along for the ride.
