You’re Not the Only One
One of the things I hear again and again from teen girls when I ask what it would be like to share what they’re going through with a friend or someone they trust is:
“They won’t understand. They have their own stuff going on.”
Translation: “I’m alone in my experience.”
What are they feeling all alone in?
It might look like a friendship problem.
Or comparison.
Or a confidence dip.
Or feeling overwhelmed by emotions.
Or wondering where they fit.
Or questioning whether they’re enough.
And that’s one of the biggest reasons I created The Happiness Path.
Not because I think teen girls need to be happy all the time.
And definitely not because I think we can skip over the hard parts.
But because I believe girls deserve opportunities to intentionally explore who they are, who they’re becoming, and how they want to navigate the world.
And doing that alongside other girls can be incredibly powerful.
As parents we hope for
There is something reassuring about realizing:
Oh. I’m not the only one.
Other girls wonder about this too.
Maybe I’m not doing something wrong.
The Happiness Path gives girls a space to connect, laugh, create, reflect, learn, and try things, without having to share anything they don’t want to share.
Raise your hand if you would love for your daughter to…
- Feel confident.
- Handle hard things.
- Build healthy relationships.
- And, ultimately, be okay.
We can’t guarantee our girls a life without challenges.
But we can help them build the confidence, self-awareness, and skills to meet those challenges when they come.
And sometimes, knowing:
“I’m not the only one.”
…is a pretty great place to start.
